The Impact of Religion on Humanity

One of the major elements of the society that has been making the greatest impact on the lives of billion of people is religion. Religion basically is the belief in God, and following whatever command and rules embedded in the system. On a broader sense, religion is a system of faith that connects humanity to spirituality. Its complexity made it a single yet diverse subject for religion essays. Its complexity is what also makes it attractive to billions of living human being.

The impact of religion on humanity is difficult to measure, but one thing is sure: it has made a great impact. Many religion essays have tried to measure the impact but failed to provide exact figures. Number-wise almost all living persons in the world has professed to be practicing a certain religion, albeit on different levels and degrees. Five religions alone account for around 90 percent of the world’s total population. This means that every nine out of ten persons in the world are either a Catholic or a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu, a Buddhist, or a follower of Chinese folk religion. Around 8 percent of the world’s population belong to one of 15 other major religions or one of the tens of thousands of religions flourishing around the globe. The remaining two percent are either atheist or agnostics. These are the people who either do not believe or does not care in the existence of a Supreme Being. These figures are not even exact; like other religion essays, this article provided mere estimates based on the number of followers that each religion claim to have.

True, the impact of religion is hard to measure but can be felt everyday when followers go by their daily lives. It does not take a religion essay to describe it.
